Julie River is proud to announce that Q Publishing House, which is the book-publishing arm of OUT FRONT Magazine, will be putting out her first actual published book of poetry in Fall 2024 entitled Punk Rock and Science Fiction!
For years River has put out homemade chapbooks that good friends we’re generous enough to design for her and then she printed them out at a FedEx Office. But she’s never really taken the initiative to try to get her work actually published. Until now.
Addison Herron-Wheeler, OFM’s editor-in-chief, showed huge faith by immediately jumping on the opportunity to get this book out there. Q Publishing House has only put out a handful of books so far including Amanda E.K.’s “The Risk It Takes to Bloom: Queer Erotica Stories,” Brian A.S. Birdsong’s short story collection “The Queerest Touch,” and Addison Herron-Wheeler’s own YA novel “SweetScarlett.” “Honestly, the thought of being one of the very first writers to be put out by this small, queer press is a bigger honor to me than getting a book deal from a big-name publishing company ever could be,” River said about the release.
The book will be a combination of a greatest hits collection and all of the new work River’s done in the 11 years since she put together her last chapbook, kind of li ke Blondie’s 2014 album “Blondie 4(0)-Ever” where they made one disc a greatest hits album and the other disc a new album. But, unlike a Blondie album from post-1979, this book promises to be worth your time.
